Welcome

Thanks for joining me!

Hi everyone!

Welcome to my first ever Blog!
🙋🏻

My name is Amanda Rose Grech and I am currently a business student at Sheridan College located in Mississauga.

I created this blog for my business communications course – my goal is to communicate with you and share my opinion on my chosen topic: Customer Loyalty programs.

My next posts will essentially be about some of my favorite loyalty cards and ways in which I maximize their great benefits.

I would first like to use this post to tell you a little bit about myself…

I decided to take a couple years off after high school to work, save money and travel but mainly to “find” myself. Those couple of years turned into 7 lol, I started working and got comfortable with my wage and position until one day I told myself its time to go back to school. I wanted to do more, I needed to feel happy and content with myself, I then found an interest in Marketing.

DISCLAIMER: Remember how I said I took a few years off to travel? So by travel I meant splurging on all-inclusive vacations. I have been to Cuba 5 times within that time-frame and Dominican once. I plan to visit Mexico this summer.

Now the fun stuff…

5 interesting facts about me:

1. I was born in Canada and I’m half Italian and Maltese

2. I find happiness in doing absolutely nothing sometimes

3. I have a cat named Presley, named after Elvis.

4. My goal is to visit less beaches and more countries

5. I have my own Instagram photography account where I take pictures of pretty much nature and the things/people I love.

I hope you enjoy my blog!

⭐️ Comment your name and one fun fact about yourself, Id love to get to know you all.

Ciao!

Calling all the ladies…

Hello again,

I want to know what you ladies think…

Today, I was with some friends and they would not stop talking about Sephora!

In case you don’t know what that is…wait…of course you do! Lol okay so if you happen to not know what Sephora is – it is essentially a store filled with hundreds of branded cosmetic items in one beautiful store. It is like heaven on earth for some girls, am I right?

So, a few of my friends are “VIB ROUGE” members…that is technically the highest loyalty card Sephora offers for the customers who spend the most and have access to many perks and goodies. I was just listening into the three of them talking about the discount they received and what they are eligible for with this special rewards card. So I heard there are levels to the type of customer you are, I am currently the most basic customer with the most basic card lol…and the perks are pretty cool. I have had the card for many years but don’t spend very much, only when I need something. But what I love about that card is on your birthday you are automatically entitled for a FREE mini gift set which comes with super cute things like makeup, skin care or perfume.

My friends get a lot more things, they get access to more gifts and the more they spend the more additional discounts they receive on products. The perks are apparently endless…

I think Sephora is smart in having this kind of program, unlike shoppers and scene that have only one standard rewards card. Sephora makes their customers want to spend more for temptation.

I personally think their prices are high, although they carry high-end cosmetic brands, you can get similar items at Shoppers or Wal-mart.

VERDICT: If you are super into cosmetics and specialty brands, I highly recommend getting a rewards card. The card is free and you don’t even have to use it very much to get a free birthday gift, however if you buy makeup a lot and are into brands I would say level up and become a VIB member because I hear my friends raving about it.

But if you’re like me – try shoppers or wal-mart for decent products at a reasonable price.

Cineplex Scene Cards

Hello again,

My previous post was about Shoppers Optimum cards, now I would like to share my thoughts on one of my favorite cards.

I am the type of person who enjoys going to the movies often, I don’t know about you guys but movie tickets have become quite expensive! An adult ticket is about $16 I believe, which is crazy…not to mention the ridiculous price of Popcorn, snacks and drinks.

Note: Movie tickets are half price on Tuesdays

I have had my Cineplex Scene card for over 8 years, so I guess you can call me a loyal customer.

I feel like this card suits most ages…I got my first card when I was 15. I loved it then and I love it even more now that I know the value of a dollar lol.
These days I refuse to pay regular price for a movie so I do what I can to earn points more efficiently.

The main reason I enjoy this card is because I can earn FREE movies!

Here are a few ways I maximize my point earnings…

I discovered this mobile fitness app called “Carrot” which is linked to businesses like Cineplex. What this app does is it tracks your foot steps in a day and gives you a target step count which you must achieve to earn scene points. Yes…you get free points just for walking.

I really like that Cineplex linked their loyalty card to this app because it encourages people to exercise more, it is essentially like a free step counter. It also notifies you when you are eligible to do a short survey to gain even more free points. Cool eh?

I also think it was great how Cineplex linked their points card to Scotia-bank Visa cards, I think that is a smart way to get customers to sign up for the card. My mom has the Scene visa and just for signing up they gave her 10,000 worth of free scene points, which is 10 free movies! That is a pretty big saving and the visa annual fee is not a lot compared to some other visas like TD infinite for example.

If you are someone who enjoys going to the movies regularly but don’t want to spend the money, I suggest downloading that carrot App and consider switching or adding another Visa card to your wallet. Also don’t forget to use your scene card at popular restaurants like Swiss Chalet, Montana’s and Milestones.

Thanks for reading!

& Happy free-movie watching!

Are you optimizing your Optimum card?

Who here has a PC Optimum Card?

ME!

How do you guys feel about the collaboration with PC?

I personally think its great, especially if you shop at PC grocery stores. I live super close to a Shoppers Drug Mart and a Loblaws so I guess you can say I’m a “Loyal” Customer.

What I like most about the PC Optimum card is that spending habits are being tracked – that may sound a little scary but it works in our favor. Why? Well because now when I load my offers on the App I’m eligible to receive points for purchasing items I would typically buy. The best part is that sometimes certain products are worth up to double the points which is a game changer!

I know there was some confusion about the point transfer from PC to Optimum – According to The Star Magazine “PC points are converted to PC Optimum points at a ratio of 1-1. This meaning 20,000 PC points will become 20,000 Optimum points, worth $20 (Star, 2018).” That is another benefit to the PC Optimum card.

Psst, did you also know you can earn Optimum points at any Esso gas station as well?

According to Newswire “PC Optimum members will earn 10 points per liter on fuel, and 10 points per dollar on eligible convenience store or car wash services at Esso stations (Newsire, 2019).” Right when you thought it couldn’t get any better…

My point – Shoppers Drug Mart, Grocery stores and Gas stations are the three main places we tend to be more often then not so lets start earning points people!

Read this report by Julie Cazzin on the Genius ways to really optimize your PC card so you don’t miss a point.
